Glamping at it’s best. This cozy log cabin was built with pine and hemlock trees harvested on our land. Off-grid. Views for miles. Great dark night sky viewing. There is a double mattress in the loft of the cabin and a queen fold-out mattress on main floor.
It is a rare and unique experience to stay in an actual log cabin. Local legend, John Foreman, hewed these pine and hemlock logs by hand with a broad axe when he was 84 years old. The rough hewn surface and appearance helps to seal the wood so it lasts longer. The logs are 8 inches thick, which means that when they warm up in winter, or cool down at night in the summer, they maintain those temperatures for much longer than a typical bunkie. The soothing energy of rough hewn logs has to be experienced to be understood. It’s a special place. Especially inspiring for writers and artists.
The miniature donkeys in the field near the cabin might say good morning!
Propane Coleman stove for cooking. Indoor wood stove for heat if necessary. We supply wood for indoor heat, potable gravity-fed cold water, all your kitchen basics, and a battery for lighting and basic charging. The wood for the outdoor fire-pit is $10 per bundle. Please do not bring your own. There are 5 km of snowshoe/hiking trails. We rent snowshoes in the winter – $30 per pair.
***New this year, access to a year-round heated comfort station with shower, flush toilet, and sinks. 100 meters from this cabin. There is also an outhouse with composting toilet right next to the cabin.

Rise Above Guest House is a wonderful antidote to a busy city life!
The scenery is breathtaking and the reception is warm and welcoming. Marilyn and Svinda were very accommodating of my needs and sensitive to my personal desires – a great balance of solo time and companionship. Being in the forest was just what my soul needed and having a clean, comfortable, well appointed space to come back to or sit in when it rained just made it that much more refreshing.
