Awash in Goodness

The autumn rains have come to a drought weary land.
The new wash-house is almost closed in and ready for use this winter.
And we feel awash in goodness.  Pun-intended.

Can the word “abundance” be overused?
I don’t think so.
The word in itself invites consideration of overflow, expansiveness, muchness, more than enough for all.
How is it possible to overuse a word that in its essence gives itself away with complete abandon?
Here at Rise Above Guest House – I don’t even know where to begin.

The garden gave us so many black currants, cucumbers, tomatoes and eggplants that we will enjoy many jams, pickles, sauces and stews this year.

The Satsang and Indian Classical Music concert wrapped up the summer at the end of August with transcendent musical offerings and the opportunity to commune around food with new friends.

Three groups have led private retreats here this fall

  • – an artists’ group of Plein Air painters
  • – a PhD writers’ group gathered to write and collaborate
  • – a working group is coming to dream and vision

Two groups have or have yet to lead public retreats

  • – Tanya Dyck Steinmann of Wildscape Soul
  • – Catherine Dyer – Heart Resonance Meditation Retreat

Cathedral of the Trees has welcomed a few new faces as we explore the theme of Landscapes.

We partnered with Hay Lake Lodge to present a documentary series called Shifting Landscapes .

Many couples and individuals have rented space for vacation, retreat, or while passing through.

And now Svinda and I have three land-mates for the winter – people who have rented space for longer-term stays.

Our community is expanding as we live into our vision and mission of connecting people with the healing cycles of the land through our stewardship principles: spirit of generosity; community of hospitality; embodied listening; and openness to transformation.

If you sense a call to participate in any part of this – especially for 2026 – reach out.  The autumn rains are here. The land has been abundantly hospitable.  And there will soon be one more place to shower in the new wash-house.  Awash in goodness indeed.
